| Empowering Every Indian |
| |
| We do more than just supply electricity. Our vision is to light up the world by making a difference. Moving towards transformation, we believe that sustainable community development is the very basis of empowerment. Long before corporate social responsibility, sustainable development or ethical governance became de rigueur, Welspun incorporated caring and empowering the people and the environment its moral responsibility. All our initiatives are guided on the basis of the following three guiding paths: |
| |
|
| |
| |
| |
| |
| |
| |
|
 |
| |
|
| Education |
| |
| We envision focusing on children and adult education by leveraging existing structures and government policies. |
|
| Initiatives in Education |
| |
| Welspun understands that the most direct way to empower the current and future generations is to spread literacy. We have been proactively understanding and responding to the people’s needs for education. |
| |
| Education In MCGM Schools: Welspun has signed an agreement with the Naandi Foundation to initiate quality education based project for three Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) schools. 230 school going children’s lives will be empowered by the Naandi Foundation, through Welspun’s financial support. |
|
| |
| Adult Education: Education is not a bastion for children alone, but for each individual who wants to grab an opportunity to transform his or her life. The results of a survey conducted at Welspun Grams in Anjar indicated that approximately 80% of the worker’s wives were illiterate. In response to this was launched an Adult Education program in association with the Jan Shikshan Sansthan. The teachers are trained by the faculty at Welspun Vidya Mandir. With our CSR personnel’s continued efforts, the attendance has risen to twenty regular participants over a short period of time. |
| |
| Anganwadi: Knowledge enables us to recognize new opportunities towards a better life. Welspun’s Anganwadi which was launched last year has seen a remarkable increase in the number of students. Welspun Vidya Mandir is the first CBSE accredited school in the region. |
| |
| Employee Engagement: Every employee has a role in modeling CSR as part of the culture within the Welspun Group. Employees are encouraged to participate in a mentor-mentee program involving children from slums through an NGO partnership with Akanksha. |
| |
 |

 |
| |
|
| Empowerment |
| |
| We envision developing, training and equipping self help groups in the community – for both men and women. |
| |
| Initiatives in Empowerment |
| |
| Vocational Training: Empowering women is at the core of Welspun’s CSR efforts. Nari Shakti was launched to achieve this objective. Under this banner, vocational training has been provided to the residents of the Welspun Grams. Training has been imparted for candle-making, stitching & cutting. Women, although hesitant in enrolling for this program are now more keen on attending classes and taking all the necessary steps towards becoming economically independent. |
| |
| We have also established a Training Center for women named "Shree Sakhi Swarnim Talim Kendra" at Community Hall in Anjar. The Project has been initiated under “Mission Mangalam,” which is a Government of Gujarat Scheme. The participating women would be given training in stitching and tailoring. The government would enable the participants in purchasing the required equipment through subsidized loans. So far, we have trained 85 women and empowered 30 women, who are engaged in commercial production. Building on this, we aim to increase the number of participating women to 500 plus over the next year. |
| |
| Monetization: Exhibitions were organized for showcasing and selling handicraft products made by women who attended the vocational training sessions. The participants have received orders from Welspun India Ltd, and have also been provided support to market and retail the products made by them. |

Studies have shown a net reduction of carbon dioxide emission of 35,131 metric tons every year. |
